Begusarai: An elderly man was shot at, while his son and brother were assaulted over a dispute related to harvesting wheat crops at Rasalpur Jokia village under Bhagwanpur police station area of Begusarai district on Monday.Police said 80-year-old Upendra Choudhary was involved in a dispute with his clan members over a six-acre plot of land, which he claimed to have cultivated with a wheat crop this season. On Monday, he was informed that the rival party had begun harvesting the crop.Family members said Upendra, along with his son Santosh Choudhary (30) and brother Umesh Choudhary (70), went to the field to stop the harvesting. “When they objected, the accused opened fire at Upendra and also beat up his son and brother. The district court has already ruled in Upendra’s favour,” a family member said.All three injured were admitted to Begusarai Sadar Hospital.Begusarai SP Manish said police recovered one live cartridge and one empty cartridge from the spot. “The case is under investigation,” he said.
